The Memorial consists of 100 hands made of metal from 0,5 to 4,5 meters high, ten rows by ten hands each. The height of the hands gradually grows from the first to the tenth row. The hands have an equal height in each row. Several stands around the central part of the Memorial describe different totalitarian regimes and historical facts. The main stand contains an inscription: Totalitarianism is never far. First, it takes our votes. Then it takes our lives.
Each object is a welded construction with a bearing shell and stiffening ribs inside. Weighted and constructively reinforced bottom to mount an object on studs. Hands are made of 60 mm stainless steel. The weight of the largest hand is – 600 kg. The weight of the smallest – 200 kg. Techniques used: welding, grinding, polishing, varnishing.
The construction of the Memorial will require an area of 3000- 4000 square meters on firm ground. The preparation of the central part of the square for concrete works and the arrangement of a concrete platform with a metal frame construction and stud bolts to fix the objects of the Memorial would be needed.
The approximate timing for projecting, production, and construction of the Memorial is estimated as 8-12 months. Projecting and documentation part - 2 months. Purchase and delivery of materials - 2 months. Production of hands and site preparation - 6 months. Delivery to the site - 1 month. Assembly and mounting of the Memorial - 1 month.
The cost for The Memorial's development and construction is now estimated at around $3 MLN. The final cost depends on many things such as the number of hands, construction site features, country and the city where The Memorial will be located and the country of production.
